This tournament took place in Belgium at a place called Fort Van Lier. The scenery was pretty fantastic, it was a world war 2 fort.
Most definitely the most challenging field course i have ever shot, one target was down hill at 50degrees, which was crazy!
First day i shot 553 out of 560, second day i did 297 out of 300. This put me in third place overall with Dave Cousins taking first.

World Target Championships - Ulsan, Korea
Date: 14/09/2009 08:36
The world target champs only comes along every two years and is thought of as probably the most important shoot of all. This was the second one i had ever competed in and last time out was nothing short of tragic.
We shot qualifying in one of the most difficult winds i have ever faced, it was not particulary strong but it seemed almost unreadable. Every flag on the field pointed a different direction. I shot 333,342,342,357 for a 1374 total, this ranked me in 22nd. Some ends where great when i read it correctly others where terrible if you made mistakes.
In the individual matchplay i shot well, held my nerve pretty good and made some good shots:
Round 1/64 Vs. Jin
115 - 110
Round 1/32 Vs. T.Johanssen
116 - 116
10 - 9
Round 1/16 Vs. P.Elzinga
115 - 114
Round 1/8 Vs. D.Busby
115 - 115
10,9,10 - 10,9,9
Round 1/4 Vs. G.Dollinger
116 - 114
Round 1/2 Vs. J.Duo
115 - 114
Gold Final Vs. Reo Wilde
116 - 118
I ended up in 2nd taking the silver medal, for me this felt like dissapointing at the time, but i can now look back and see this as a good achievement. Hopefully my medal will go towards getting more funding for compound archery in the future.
Exmouth Tournament - National Series leg 4
Date: 14/09/2009 08:27
We shot a 720 round for qualifying where i shot 700 dead in a quite tricky wind, leading by 10points.
We then went into the matchplay, my match scores where: 118,111,118,115,117
I ended up undefeated winning the tournament and therefore sliding me into first in the overall gb national series rankings.
The sunday was a fita round again the weather conditions made it difficult. My distances where 340, 351, 348, 359 for a 1398. I won the round by 35 points.
This seemed like a pretty good warm up for the world target champs which would follow next weekend.
Kirby muxloe double 70m round
Date: 14/09/2009 08:21

European Champion at IFAA Europeans
Date: 02/08/2009 18:45
This past week i was in tal-y-coed in south wales for the IFAA European Field Championships.
My field rounds where 551 and 557.
The hunter rounds where 553 and 554.
I shot really well on what was a difficult course and ended out coming out 1st in the pro division by 20 points.
Also my 557 was a new European record. So all in all pretty pumped with my performance and look forward to the world targets in less than a month.

Cleve Fita 720 and Fita Round
Date: 29/07/2009 11:55
Last weekend was the annual Cleve tournament held in Bristol, last year i won the shoot and the field is always good so i went back with high hopes for some big scores.
On the saturday we shot a 720 round for qualifying and i did 697, which seeded me in third. My matchplay scores where 114, 115, 118, 115, 116. I ended up in third place overall. I lost in the semi final to Toni Kalamari who ran a 119 on me, mad props for that.
For the Fita Round, we had flat calm on the second day but the rain was pretty extreme. I shot a 343, 353, 352, 359, which gave me a 1407 total. This score was my highest of the season and the third highest Fita ever shot in the UK.
I did this tournament with my brand new Conquest 4 with 452X strings and cables by Greg Hill and 420 Protours.
Archery GB National Series Round 2 - Lilleshall
Date: 04/07/2009 17:48
This second leg was held at lilleshall and there was some sort of team competition going on where people dressed ridiculously and i was out the loop on but the main reason i was there was for national series points towards the finals.
This was calculated by adding your 720 score from the saturday to your fita score on the sunday to calculate the podium.
In the double 70 round i shot 353 then 351 for a total of 704 which was a new pb.
For the fita i threw down 340,347,342, 360 for a 1389. 50m was a little breezy and nobody shot great but i was poor. other distances where pretty good though for the conditions.
I used my c4 this weekend and i was pretty pleased with what i got score wise but it only gave me third place. chris won with 705 and 1398 and duncan 2nd.
Team Trials for World Outdoor Champs Part 2
Date: 26/06/2009 17:04
Sat in 3rd going into the event, i shot a 1366 Fita round which was second highest on the day, then shot 681 for my 720. Matchplay scores where 113, 112, 114, 115, 116, 117. All weekend had some very difficult to read wind but i got the job done. Ended up in 3rd place overall for the tournament so i will be going to the World Champs in September which will be held in Korea. Red dragons!
